I. Campus activities


In Adcote School Shanghai, we annually organize a diverse range of campus activities including cultural, artistic, sporting, and public welfare events. These initiatives are designed to comprehensively cultivate students' overall qualities and infuse new vitality into our campus culture.  


1. Chinese Culture Week

Aiming to promote tradition and inherit Chinese heritage, the Chinese Culture Week, which is themed around the promotion and inheritance of traditional Chinese culture, provides students with an opportunity to engage in and experience the richness and depth of Chinese heritage.


2. Business Day

The students organized a charity sale, gaining firsthand experience with business operations and management. All proceeds were donated to assist children with medical needs.


3. Sports Day

Students, according to their houses, participated in a variety of events including the Sheshan Fun Run, Frisbee, football, badminton, and many other activities. Through these activities, they experienced the joy that sports bring, unlocked their potential, transformed themselves, and ultimately surpassed their personal limits.

The students worked in small groups to create an artistic periodic table of chemical elements.

Students used their own college representative colors and spray-painted the unique logo panels of their colleges. The vibrant colors and radiant smiles created a stunning and picturesque scene of artistic expression.

Halloween is a traditional Western festival celebrated annually on November 1st. To help students gain a deeper understanding of multiculturalism and foster their imagination, Adcote School Shanghai organizes activities that lay the foundation for cross-cultural communication.


7. Thanksgiving Charity Sale

During the Thanksgiving holiday, Adcote School Shanghai students organized a charity sale featuring handmade jewelry, desserts, second-hand items, potted plants, paintings, tarot readings, and game experiences. Through these activities, they aimed to raise funds for individuals in need within society.

Life is like a stage, and the journey of life is one of continuous self-discovery and understanding. Each year, students at Adcote School Shanghai stage an annual drama performance. Through these performances, we aim for the students to gain deeper insights into themselves, the world around them, and their peers.

At the end of each year, Adcote School Shanghai hosts an elaborate Christmas carnival to celebrate the harvest and achievements of the past year and to usher in a hopeful New Year.

 

II. International Competitions


Adcote School Shanghai encourages students to participate in various international academic and quality competitions, helping them expand their academic knowledge in relevant fields during the competition process, experience the joy of the subjects, and stimulate their curiosity for active learning.


1.  Quality-oriented competition activities

Adcote School Shanghai has formed a strategic partnership with the British Accreditation Center for Quality Education (ASDAN), introducing high-quality international educational resources. On the basis of the school's quality courses, it further provides students with extracurricular competitions, activities, and related authoritative certifications. While enhancing their qualities, it lays a more solid foundation for future university applications.


2. World Scholar's Cup (WSC) Global Tournament

The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is currently warmly welcomed by primary and secondary school students and schools in over 70 countries and regions around the world. Every year, more than 50,000 students participate globally. This competition sets cross-disciplinary academic challenges around global themes, covering six major subjects: science, sociology, history, art, literature, and general knowledge. The competition includes four core competitive sections: team quizzes, collaborative creation, knowledge challenges, and academic debates.


3. ASDAN All-Star Business Competition

The ASDAN Business Simulation Competition is based on a professional simulation business IT system, completely simulating and restoring the real environment and decision-making process of the market and company operations. The winner is determined by the final profit. Those who perform well will have the opportunity to obtain the ASDAN Young Entrepreneur Certificate, which is issued by the ASDAN headquarters in the UK, indicating the student's initial ability in business operations. At the same time, it proves that the student has achieved excellent results in outstanding business activities.


III. Academic lectures


The youth period is a critical phase for the development of sound moral character, which lays the foundation for lifelong values. To assist students in establishing correct values and to genuinely achieve holistic education, our school organized a series of activities under the theme "100 Teachers into Adcote." We invited professionals from diverse fields to share their expertise on topics including mental health, character formation, legal education, and safety education.


1. "New Semester, New adaptation" lecture

At the beginning of the new semester, our school organized this orientation lecture for newly enrolled students to facilitate their seamless integration into campus life. The lecture covered three key areas: "Life Adaptation," "Learning Adaptation," and "Interpersonal Adaptation." These topics were carefully selected to assist students in acclimating to their new environment and transitioning smoothly into their roles as international school students.


2. "School Uniform Etiquette: Becoming a Walking Embodiment of Beautiful Adcote” lecture

Speaker: Su ping,  David Luke Company/Head of Marketing

Appearance is the reflection of one's soul, serving as the most direct manifestation of an individual's moral integrity, cultural refinement, and spiritual demeanor. For students, maintaining a dignified and appropriate appearance not only represents their personal image and aesthetic sensibility but also demonstrates respect for the school and fosters trust among peers and faculty.

 

3. "Relaxation Meditation" workshop

Speaker: Scarlet Dong, East China Normal University/Applied Psychology major

This workshop aims to guide participants through systematic breathing and meditation exercises. By engaging in these practices, attendees can achieve a state of deep relaxation and mindfulness, which can assist students in improving sleep quality, alleviating academic and examination stress, and enhancing concentration and memory retention.


4. Lecture on the Protection of Minors in the New Era

Guest Speaker: Su Xiaodan, Lawyer at Shanghai Shenyunhe Law Firm and Member of the Research Committee on the Protection of Minors' Rights and Interests of the Shanghai Bar Association

In recent years, issues such as school bullying, teenage addiction to mobile phones, and minors' over-reliance on the Internet have increasingly come under public scrutiny and garnered significant attention. It is believed that by disseminating relevant laws and regulations to students, we can effectively enhance their legal awareness and self-protection capabilities, thereby promoting their healthy and happy development.

  

IV、 Summer and Winter Holiday Programmes

At Adcote School Shanghai, we offer a wide range of summer and winter holiday programmes to enhance students' overall personal skills. The immersive language environment enables rapid improvement of English language skills while expanding international horizons.

Learn while you play, and gain while you learn. Winter camps not only provide participants with a targeted background-enhancing experience, but also allow them to explore the road ahead for future study abroad planning. Whether it is to broaden horizons, increase knowledge, or make friends from all over the world, winter camps allow participants to comprehensively improve and reacquaint themselves in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.


1. UK TOP Universities Exploration Winter Camp

This is an invitation from the top schools in the United Kingdom - across 9,500 kilometres, in the ancient library of Oxford, feel the strong academic atmosphere; in the University of Cambridge, on the banks of the River Cam, listen to the reverberation of history. Students will learn about the characteristics and training direction of each university, and meet with the admission officers, teachers and students of the famous schools to have an in-depth communication. After the tour, students will also visit the six major cities in the UK to experience the local history, culture, and customs.


2. Singapore Famous Universities and Media Enterprises Study Programme

During the 7-day programme, students will stroll through the streets of the ‘Lion City’of Singapore and experience the beauty of multiculturalism; visit the campuses of Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore and other prestigious schools, led by current students, and exchange face-to-face experience in further education and professional application; and experience the unique charm of the media industry during an in-depth visit to the Media Group in Singapore. In addition, the trip also includes a visit to the Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore, where students will visit the campuses and exchange their experiences on further studies and professional applications. In addition, the itinerary also arranges to visit the Singapore Science Museum and Art Museum to experience the beauty of science and culture.


3. Hong Kong Famous Universities and Enterprises Study Programme

Explore the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and other well-known universities under the leadership of senior students to feel the academic atmosphere of Asia's leading universities; visit the world-class research centres and high-tech industrial parks, to understand the dynamics of the development of artificial intelligence and other industries; personally involved in the multinational enterprises of the practical training, simulation of the product launch, in the front line of the comprehensive enhancement of their practical ability and professionalism.


4. Swiss World Famous Hospitality School Visiting Winter Camp

Hospitality School Visit under the Alps - students will stay at the Swiss star hotel management campus and experience the lifestyle of a hotel management university; they will come into contact with the educational resources of four top hospitality institutions and feel the multicultural collision brought by the internationalised environment; and at the end of the trip, students will participate in the welcome night and graduation ceremony, and obtain the certificate of the study visit programme, which will make their CVs more eye-catching.


5. PBL Winter Camp for Nature and Sustainable Development in Finland

During the trip in Finland, students will participate in the renowned PopUp School programme and gain an in-depth understanding of all aspects of sustainable development through interdisciplinary teaching and phenomenal pedagogy; explore the Arctic Circle, observe the Aurora, and experience Finland's natural beauty; in addition, students can try out a variety of winter sports, such as floorball and curling, to fully enhance the overall ability ...... Experience the concept of sustainable development in Finland's pristine natural environment.


6. Japanese Famous Schools Visit and Communication Study Camp

Visit famous academic institutions such as the University of Tokyo and Waseda University to experience the academic atmosphere of Japan; visit famous high schools in Japan to learn about the daily life of local students; in addition to this, students can experience traditional Japanese culture such as the tea ceremony and yukata, and visit famous attractions such as the Tokyo Tower and Akihabara, to experience the perfect fusion of tradition and modernity.


7. Australia TOP Universities Exploration and All-round Enhancement Camp

During the trip in Australia, students will visit six top universities in the southern hemisphere to experience university top programmes and to participate in a variety of exciting outdoor sports; at the same time, they will also participate in local practical activities as ‘volunteers’ to gain a deeper understanding of the Australian way of life, to further enhance the sense of social responsibility, and to explore the values of the individual.
