Adcote Shanghai combines the rich experience of the UK’s Adcote School in offering A-Level courses with the IBMYP framework, integrating the educational philosophy of "East meets West, and holistic learning." This approach is tailored to the learning characteristics of Chinese students.
The school offers both IGCSE and A-LEVEL courses. With a focus on the core values of heritage, innovation, independence, and leadership, the curriculum includes four main strands: Chinese core curriculum, thematic inquiry courses, liberal arts courses, and global exploration programs. Through continuous growth across four dimensions—knowledge, skills, attitude, and values—students engage in a cycle of vision, action, and reflection, empowering them to navigate their own paths and freely explore the world.
I. A-Level Curriculum
A-Level: The Globally Recognized Gold Standard in Education
The A-Level (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) is a globally recognized advanced-level curriculum from the UK, designed as a university entrance qualification for British students. Administered by the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), it is often referred to as the "golden ticket" for admission to top universities worldwide. A-Level qualifications are accepted by over 11,000 universities across 160+ countries and regions.

II. IB Program: International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized educational framework originally developed for the children of diplomats and outstanding students worldwide. It is regarded as a leading force in international education. Over 2,100 universities globally recognize the IB diploma, including top-tier institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale, which welcome IB graduates for admissions.
Achieving the IBDP Qualification to Empower Holistic Development
The school obtained the status of an IBDP candidate school in July 2024 (School Code: 063998), with plans to launch the full range of IBDP courses in the fall of 2025.
Integration of Eastern and Western Educational Advantages: At the IG stage, we apply the IB framework (educational philosophy and inquiry methods) alongside the IGCSE curriculum (academic content and course framework).
During the final two years of high school, students can choose between the IBDP or A-Level courses, based on their university goals and academic strengths.
